For several hundreds, perhaps the last 2 to 4,000 years, our ethos has been competition and survival of the fittest. Ours has been a world in which we have destroyed the environments, have created alienation, and have destroyed native traditions. Much of this has been headed by a philosophy of competition and survival of the fittest. While many attribute this to Darwinian theory, it is not. Indeed, it is more a philosophy of business, especially in relationship to capitalism.
